FAQ’s Q: How is Homeopathy different from herbs or aromatherapy?
A: Homeopathy is in fact very different, unique science.

  • While 60% of homeopathic medicines are derived from plants, they act very differently to herbal medicines.
Only a small amount of the original substance is used, thus homeopathic medicine has NO side effects.
  • Homeopathic medicines are prepared in a special way, a process known as potentization. Potentization
eliminates the side-effects, while enhancing the healing properties of the medicine, reducing the need for
    daily doses.
  • While in herbal medicine, patients are each prescribed the same herb and a crude dose according to their
condition. In homeopathy we see that each person is an individual, thus no two people will be treated alike. I
may treat 10 children with ear infections, using 10 completely different homeopathic medicines. It is a truly
    holistic approach.
  • There are NO KNOWN SIDE EFFECTS. With over 200 years of homeopathy, unlike many conventional drugs,
no homeopathic medicine has ever been taken off the market.
  • Homeopathic medicine is not supposed to be taken every day. Only the smallest amount needed to stimulate
the body’s own immune system is taken. Once the patient has healed, the homeopathic medicine is
discontinued as now the body is capable of taking care of itself.
  • While undergoing homeopathic treatment, other ailments besides the ones being treated are often helped as
    the whole person is treated
  • Homeopathy addresses the issue, rather than just symptoms.
Q: Is Homeopathy safe?
  • A: Yes, homeopathy is extremely safe because only a very small amount of the substance is used in a specially prepared form that is readily absorbed by the body. Homeopathic medicines are all FDA approved and gentle enough even for newborns and the elderly. You can choose a very safe, effective way to address your health issues without worrying about side effects.
  • Unlike conventional medicine, where drugs are continuously removed off the market and replaced by new ones once there side effects have been established, homeopaths are still using the same tried and tested homeopathic medicines we used 200 years ago, however are adding to our continuously growing material medica, allowing us a greater scope of practice.

Q: Does Homeopathy come from the East? Is it an Eastern Philosophy?
A: Homeopathy was discovered in Germany by a German physician Dr. Samuel Hahnemann. Homeopathy is rapidly becoming popular all over the world.

Q: Is Homeopathy a new science?
A: No, Homeopathy is actually over 200 years old. It is extremely popular in many countries around the world, especially Europe, where it is widely used by the Royal family of London. Homeopathy has stood the test of time.

Q: I am religious and I am concerned that Homeopathy is new age?
A: Actually Homeopathy is based on principles of rigid science and extreme precision. I treat many patients from all different walks of life, including Christians, priests, rabbi’s, etc. Many of my patients who are religious prefer homeopathy as it doesn’t involve the use of suppressive drugs. No matter what your religion, homeopathy will work in accordance with your beliefs.

Q: Will Homeopathic medicine interfere with other drugs or treatments that I am taking?
A: While homeopathic medicines do not affect conventional drugs or treatments, certain conventional drugs or treatments may affect the actions of the homeopathic medicine. If you feel that your conventional medicines may be interfering with your homeopathic treatment, speak to your homeopath, as there are homeopathic dilutions, called LM potencies, which are gentle enough to be taken every day that can counteract this. I have found that a patient’s condition improves while taking homeopathic medicines, requiring an adaption in their prescription drugs. Always speak to your doctor before changing, reducing or terminating medication that has been prescribed for you. Always let your doctor know that you are taking homeopathic medicines.

Q: I have been taking homeopathic medicines and have noticed a reaction (such as a rash, a cold, fever, diarrhea, a vaginal discharge, increased perspiration, etc). What should I do? Is this a side-effect?
A: Homeopathic medicines have no known side effects. Sometimes after taking a well-prescribed homeopathic medicine, your body will start to go into a detoxification mode, eliminating toxins so that your body can heal. It is a sign that your immune system is stimulated and at this point it is important that you do not take any more of the homeopathic medicine, otherwise it will interfere with the healing process. Stop taking the homeopathic medicine immediately and speak to your homeopath. If you are unable to reach your homeopath and are concerned that it may be caused by something other than the remedy, if you have been exposed to someone else with similar symptoms, or if you think it may be serious, speak to your doctor.
